The President’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2026 includes a proposal to eliminate the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program, which provides the only federal funding for afterschool and summer programs and could lead to widespread closures of afterschool programs and the loss of services for millions of children.
After School programs (between 3PM-6PM) improve academic performance and social skills, reduce risky behaviors, provide more daily physical activity, and a safe, structured environment for children. They help students stay engaged in learning, develop critical life skills like teamwork and problem-solving, explore new interests, and provide parents with peace of mind.
Children in afterschool programs attend school more often, get better grades, and are more likely to graduate. They are less likely to use drugs or alcohol. According to the After School Alliance, For every child in a program, three are waiting to get in.
LA County Parks Every Body Plays After-School is a free, drop-in recreational programming that promotes fun, health, and inclusion for all youth. The program provides children and teens with safe spaces after school and during school breaks to get homework help, engage in active play, creative activities, social connection and field trips.
Every child in Every Body Plays After-School receives a nutritious snack, helping address food insecurity.
LACPF partners with LA County Parks to support this program, available at 60 LA County Parks. Youth can drop in Monday through Friday between 2:30pm and 6pm. Together, we’re building healthier communities by integrating safe places, play, learn and recreation.

Los Angeles County’s newest regional park in 30 years—the Puente Hills Regional Park—is atop the former Puente Hills Landfill, formerly the nation’s second largest landfill! Through Puente Hills Regional Park (PHRP), we have an opportunity to re-write history in the San Gabriel Valley by creating a world class public space for art and culture, climate change, environmental education and justice, healing, health and so much more.
We invite you to be a part of the vision for Puente Hills by investing in an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate your community. By making a tax-deductible donation, you will be contributing to the creation of the PHRP, an improved quality of life for all Los Angeles County residents and an enhanced appreciation for the natural world.
Thank you for considering supporting the future Puente Hills Regional Park through the Los Angeles County Park Foundation!
